Fraud is getting harder to spot. Signing in should be harder to fake.
That’s why we’re replacing passwords with faster, phishing-resistant sign-in and focusing added checks on the moments that matter most.
Security should not make routine work harder. It should help the right person get where they need to go quickly, while making it much harder for anyone else to follow.
That is the thinking behind Basefund’s move away from passwords. Over the coming week, customers will begin seeing a simpler way to sign in, with stronger protection built into the experience.
01 · Why now
Impersonation is getting easier to produce and harder to spot.
AI did not invent phishing, account takeover, or executive impersonation. It has made familiar attacks faster, more convincing, and easier to repeat at scale. The FBI says AI is increasing the speed, scale, and automation of targeted phishing, while voice and video cloning can make a fraudulent request appear to come from someone you trust.
Public-finance work brings together many people, organizations, accounts, and approvals. When the work is consequential, identity cannot depend on whether a message looks familiar or whether a password was entered correctly.

Stronger sign-in, with less routine friction.
Passkeys replace a password with a cryptographic credential tied to your device. In practice, that means you can sign in with Face ID, a fingerprint, or your device PIN. The credential stays on your device, and there is no password for a phishing site to capture.
Email codes and Microsoft or Google sign-in will remain available when a passkey is not the right fit. Once your identity has been verified, it can also be reused across eligible transactions, reducing unnecessary repetition.
Use the sign-in method you prefer.
